Swimming Lessons

One of the highlights of the summer for our kids is always swimming lessons.  I didn't think they were going to have the chance to take them this year due to all the COVID craziness but after looking around a bit I found that Salem Swim and Tennis was offering them and when I called they were actually able to get all 5 of our biggest kids in at the same time.  I was a little shocked but so excited that it worked out!  Swim lessons were twice a week for 3 weeks which is a little different than what we've done in the past but it worked out really well.  Grammy helped with the babies, sometimes staying home with them and sometimes joining us, and the kids as always loved getting to be in the pool.

Sadie was in Level 4.  She's getting to be a really good swimmer.  Her class was working on different strokes.  I think she would have preferred to spend her time jumping off the diving board but hey at least she got to be in the pool.

Wyatt was in Level 3.  He has made a lot of improvement the past 2 years from choking and flailing around in the water to actually swimming.  As he reminded me he has bad memories of this pool.  The last time he took lessons here was about 3 years ago and he swallowed lots of water and had a lot of ear trouble.  We actually enrolled him in a second round of lessons that year hoping to help him catch on and about half way through the lessons his ear drum ruptured and he had to quit.  Poor guy!

Cooper was in Level 2.  He also made a lot of progress.  He's very comfortable with his head under water which he wasn't last year, he was almost always the first kid in his class to jump right in, and he actually jumped off of the diving board a couple of times the last week or so of lessons and was able to dog paddle out.  Yay!

Hazel and Evie were in Level 1.  They were pretty cute together.  Hazel did a good job when she felt like it and Evie like usual was kinda in her own little world but she did good too.  The first time the teacher told her to hold her breath to go under the water I watched the wheels spinning and realized she had no idea what she was suppose to do.  Anyway the teacher dunked her and she DID NOT like that.  She wanted to be done after that but she got through it and was ready to go again the next time.  I was proud of her.
