Troyer Addition Week 10 & 11

 May 6, 2023

Week 10 and 11: Lots of odd and end jobs while the concrete guys set forms, poured the foundation, and removed forms.

SATURDAY

Saturday Sadie and I attended a baby shower for Auntie Kendra in Eugene while Brandon managed the littles here and tried to get a few things done.  Not an overly fun weekend for him but he got all of our wood reorganized and we spent a few hours splitting and stacking our remaining rounds after we got home.

MONDAY - WEDNESDAY
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the concrete crew worked on setting forms and finally on Thursday we were ready for an inspection.  Yay!!!

May 13, 2023

SATURDAY
It didn't feel like a lot of progress was made this past week and we're just kinda waiting for the foundation to be poured so that Brandon can start framing but if it had to slow down for a week I guess this was a good one as we had the Twins' birthday Wednesday and their party on Friday.   This Saturday the Boys played in a a scrimmage game, last one before the seasons starts, and Brandon was able to mow the pasture so that the septic guys will be able to navigate it a little better when they come out in a couple of weeks.

MONDAY
BIG DAY!!!!  They poured our new footings today!!!

TUESDAY-THURSDAY
Slowly the forms were removed from the footings to prepare for Jordan to return on Friday.  It's been a little hard to be patient as our concrete guys work some strange hours (like show up for 2 hours Mother's day afternoon, and then not for a few days, and then coming at 8:00 p.m. and working until 10:00 p.m.???) but it's done so we're happy!!!

FRIDAY
Jordan came back and backfilled for the garage slab and then compacted it all.  We also had our first framing package delivered and have the plumber and HVAC guys scheduled to come out Monday and Tuesday.  It's Go Time!!!  And we're all a little excited!

Troyer Addition Week 8 & 9

 April 22, 2023

Week 8 & 9: Last Bit of Demo, Retaining Wall, Burn Pile, Grading, and beginning of foundation work.

SATURDAY

Saturday we tore siding off the last side of the mudroom and then Brandon pushed the garage walls down.  We did some extra hauling this weekend because we decided to take all the walls down to the burn pile rather than filling up another dumpster but the weather was nice and we got it done.  I also ran Cooper over to a birthday party in the afternoon.  The weekends sure fly by.

Watching the walls come down.

SUNDAY
We had a little clean up left to do Sunday afternoon to get everything ready for Jordan to come and start demoing the concrete Monday.

Stage 1 of this project, DEMO, is officially complete!!!!  At least the part we're doing ourselves.

MONDAY
Monday Jordan got right to work tearing out concrete and in the evening we worked on the retaining  wall.

TUESDAY
Tuesday Jordan began digging the new crawlspace and footings.

THURSDAY
Thursday Brandon meet with the inspector for the first time to verify that the existing foundation was larger than we'd originally thought.  This was good news as it means a little less work and modifications needed.  Jordan continued digging footings and were starting to get a visual of the new footprint.  We also enjoyed our first baseball game and a win!!!  And our new "downstairs" bathroom was delivered making this feel like a true job site. ;)

The kids were stupidly excited about this and Hazel had to be the first one to use it.
NONSENSE!!!!
"The Downstairs Bathroom"

Wyatt's buddy Cole hit his first home run!!!  We were super excited for him and loved the boys' big hug at the end.

FRIDAY
Friday was the hottest day we've seen in awhile and the girls were dying to get in the sprinklers.  We're hoping the water will keep them entertained for awhile tomorrow while we work.

April 29, 2023

SATURDAY
It was another hot day.  We spent the day finishing up the retaining wall, "The Great Wall" as Uncle Kevin called it, and we burned our enormous burn pile.  Not a super exciting day but all stuff that needed to get done and we're definitely glad to be done hauling blocks.

SUNDAY
Brandon had to work on our water main line Sunday.  Plumbing is not his favorite and we really try not to have major projects on Sundays but it needed to get done so that we're ready for foundation work to begin Monday.

MONDAY
Monday Jordan came and finished digging for the foundation, backfilled the retaining wall, and graded the front yard.  About 3:00 the concrete crew rolled in and worked, cutting rebar until 9:50!!!!  We were not expecting that!  Finally Brandon went out to check on them as I was worried the neighbors were going to be upset and they said they often work those kind of hours but were getting ready to wrap up.  Call me crazy but that's really late!!!  I kept thinking when it gets dark they'll head out but then no they pulled out headlamps and a work light on their truck and kept right on rollin'.  Oh boy!

THURSDAY
Tuesday and Wednesdays were beautiful days but no one showed up to work :( and then Thursday the crew rolled back in and it poured turning our place into a giant mud hole again.  Booo!  But they got some work done regardless.

FRIDAY
Friday was a full day of work and much better weather!!!!  We're hoping for an inspection on Monday and to be pouring concrete Tuesday but not thinking there's much chance we're going to make that deadline unless they show up this weekend and get A LOT done. :(
