Wrapping up the 2022-2023 School Year

Another school year has come and gone.  May was filled with field trips and spring concerts, baseball and track, awards and fun class projects, sunshine and flowers.

And of course the constant stream of nonsense

Cooper's class enjoying the first days of sunshine with lunch outside

Hazel's Class Hatched Baby Chicks
Hazel of course swaddled hers. :)

We visited Daddy at work for Cinco de Mayo

This pretty much sums up 7th grade boys.
Haha!  Can't stop laughing.  Sadie's expressions have always been so hilarious.

Oregon Trail STEM Projects

So fun seeing these two play and pretend more and more together.

It's Chopping Season

We had some really hot days in May and with no A.C. it was nicer to eat outside in the shade of our trees than inside.

It's Also Baseball Season
Last minute the coach asked Cooper to play which was pretty cool.  They needed 11 boys if they wanted the opportunity to go to state and they currently had 10.  I think he's enjoying it and we love the fact that they're able to play together.  This is likely the only time they'll be on the same team.  So that's kinda special

Peonies!!!

Grammy made these fun cookies for Sadie's last flight team meeting.

This year the kids' last days were staggered a bit.  Evie graduated on Wednesday, Wyatt's last day was Thursday, Cooper and Hazel finished with a half day Friday, and Sadie went to school until Wednesday of the following week.

Wyatt spent his 2nd to last day at the WYAM base in Turner.  They enjoyed the ropes course and hanging out together.

Cooper's teacher Mrs. Hinderks does this really cool thing where she gives each of the kids a beach ball at the end of the year filled with words of encouragement and affirmation.  Sadie still has hers, and as a person who appreciates words and thinks they're really powerful I soooo appreciate the time she puts into this and the way really all of our teachers speak into the lives of our children throughout the year and especially at the end of the year.

Mrs. Hinderk's told Cooper that told that she figured he always got a Math award or something related to how smart he is and she purposefully chose something different.  She wanted to recognize a different character trait and chose honesty.

LAST DAY!!

Hazel adored her teacher this year and I think the feeling was mutual.  Mrs. H. had a soft spot for our Hazel who struggles with reading and can be a little bit of a spaz.  Mrs. H. is fun ,which is truly what Hazel responds to best, and kind and from the beginning has built up and encouraged Hazel.  She was a different kid this year just in terms of her willingness to work hard her desire to be at school.  If I could count how many times at dinner her best was Mrs. H., well I can't so I won't even try.  But seriously we're so thankful for her investment in Hazel, for the fact that Hazel really enjoyed this year, and for all the ways she encouraged Hazel.
Flamingo Award: For always managing to balance being a kind and fun friend with being a hard-working student in second grade.

We Love You Mrs. H!

Didn't get any pictures of Sadie's last day but she went bowling at the rec center and then we went out to Red Robin to celebrate as tomorrow we are officially on summer break.
