Troyer Addition: Week 40-43

December 2, 2023

Week 40-43: Drywall hung and taped in our addition.

Pretty amazing how quickly they were able to hang and finish our new space.  We actually wish the taper would have slowed down a bit as there were a lot of mistakes that needed reworking but regardless it was a lot of fun to see the space transform so quickly.  It's looking more and more finished all the time.

Brandon and Nic hung Sadie's room.  So I guess I know who to blame if anything goes wrong there.  Just kidding!

These guys hung Friday and Saturday and then Brandon and I ran up to Home Depot Saturday afternoon and on our way back Nic called and said that they wanted to finish that day so they'd called their cousin and brother and were going to cranked it out.   And crank it out they did!!!   I've really enjoyed watching the different trades do their thing.  I hit the ceiling over and over helping to scrap out the drywall with Brandon but these guys pick up full sheets and move them around like it's nothing.

This weekend Brandon set up the scaffolding to put shingles in the peak over the garage.

December 16, 2023

We spent the first part of the week at a beach house in Lincoln City with the kids and while we were gone Donn came over and with the help of some others and they primed the entire addition and painted all of the ceilings.  AMAZING!!!!!  We really cannot say a huge enough thank you!  And if that wasn't enough Donn and his son Noah came back on Friday and cut in all of our ceilings while we rolled the walls.  All that is left now is a second coat and a little bit of touch up work due to the taper having to fix his boo boos.

Wyatt and I helped cut in corners and around electrical boxes.

Brandon rolled a lot of walls.

December 23, 2023

We did a major cleaning this weekend to try to eliminate as much of the drywall dust as possible.  We vacuumed and moped the garage and vacuumed the sub floor in the mud room.  This is probably the cleanest our garage will ever be.  We also finished up the second coat of paint.

Also added the last light/fan in the girls' room so that we can have the insulators back out to add insulation to the attic.

Christmas Eve

Not in our new space as we'd originally hoped but soaking it in...the lights, the excitement, the presents under the tree, the house full of the people we love...all is calm, all is bright.

Can't wait to celebrate tomorrow!
