Always great to get away together. The responsibilities of work and parenting get to slip away for a few days and we get to just enjoy one other and reflect on how very blessed we are. I kinda love that our anniversary is in January because it's a perfect time to slow down and think back on the year and these trips always give us the space to do that.
We dropped the kids off on Tuesday and then ran some errands, dropped May off at the kennel so that Grammy wouldn't have to worry about her, got lunch in Corvallis, and then headed down to Lincoln City.
On Wednesday we spent part of the day in Newport. I always get a kick out of the sea lions and there's a sea food restaurant down there that Brandon really loves. the weather was kinda cold and rainy so we ended up going into Ripley's Believe It or Not to escape the rain. We've walked by it a dozen times and never gone in. It was a little weird for me. I don't think I really knew what to expect but ya kinda strange and sad and strange. Some of it was cool, different illusions and rare things, but a lot of strange people and things that happen to them and I don't know... just not my cup of tea.
The wax museum however was fun enough and we tried their laser room. We are old... but it was fun :)
GERALD!!!!
Haha!!! I just love these guys!
Evening snacks
Thursday we went to the outlets in Lincoln City and then had dinner at the Pelican.
The photos don't do it justice but the waves were crazy.
Friday we took a pretty slow day but did get out and try the arcade in town and then cooked dinner for our anniversary. Unfortunately they didn't have a grill. For the record a George Foreman is NOT a grill, but Brandon was a good sport about it and still made us a delicious dinner.
Saturday ready or not it was time to head home. Grammy was ready I'm certain. We were mostly ready but a little not. Crazy how much you can love home and love being away.
The girls were excited to pick up May with us.
We bought the kids some fancy root beer at the Pelican. The cans were enormous and the root beer was delicious.
