It's always an exciting day when the goats start having their babies. The kids check on them MANY MANY times each day looking for signs that they're getting close until finally the big day arrives. This year the timing worked out great and most of the goats had their babies over spring break which was awesome. The kids are learning a lot about the process and were able to do more of the work this time keeping an eye on the mamas and even drying off the babies and clearing their noses when needed.
This year Pepper was our first girl to give birth. She had 2 babies, a boy and a girl, Cooper named them Buck and Lucy.

Next it was Vanilla's turn. She had 3 babies, all girls. Hazel named them Everly, Lily, and Coconut.
Patiently awaiting their arrival.

Hazel's happiest place EVER is with baby goats or a litter of puppies!

Hazel named them after her two best friends at school.
Next was Baby. She had twin boys. Wyatt named them Ben and Kyler.
Pewee was 4th to have her baby. She had a girl which Evie named Ellie. Being an only child Ellie got A LOT of attention and ended up being our friendliest kid.
Sky and Cutie had their babies the same evening.
Sky had 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy. Sadie named them Ruby, Gem, and Frank the Turkey.
Cutie and twin girls we named Jane and Christina.
And Finally, last but not least, Tina finally had hers. Poor Tina was huge and we thought for sure she was going into labor a couple of times but then nothing happened.
She would often sit like a dog just because it was so hard to get up and down and we had to laugh but felt so bad for her at the same time. One night she somehow got stuck on her back. Thankfully we spotted her quickly and were able to roll her back over.
Tina had 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl. We named the girl Jenna and couldn't keep the others straight as they all looked alike and Tina being our least friendly goat didn't let us handle them as much as the others.

Baby got sick a week or so after having her kids. We never figured out for sure what was going on but did treat her as best we could with Uncle Robert's help. We tried to bottle feed her babies for a bit but they were not cooperative so we ended up sending one of her kids over to a friend who had bummer lambs and we left the other with her hoping to minimize her stress. She eventually did bounce back which we were thankful for.

Hazel and Evie especially loved the baby goats this year. They spent hours out playing with them rain or shine and that's why we do it.

This is how Aubrey feels about coming back inside.
I guess that's a wrap on this years baby goats. We ended up selling a majority of them as usual when they were about 3 months old. 2 went to Cooper's basketball coach, 3 went to Hazel's friend Everly's family, 2 went to the owner of this years buck, and we kept 3. We kept Sadie's goat Ruby, Hazel's goat Everly, and Evie's goat Ellie.
