Troyer Addition: Week 67-69

June 8, 2024

Weeks 67-69:

June started of slow in terms of work getting done on the house but that definitely doesn't mean it felt slow.  Baseball is really keeping us busy this year.  3 games this week, plus practices, plus Hazel attended a tea party with her friend Everly, plus we spent some time with my cousins Brian and Sarah before they headed back to Arizona, plus Sadie and a birthday party and graduation party, plus Wyatt worked for Uncle Ryan a couple of days, plus the grand opening of Uncle Brian and Auntie Amy's new restaurant, plus we're waiting for the arrival of new baby goats.  Apparently summer is not for the faint of heart!

Tea Party

This was the girls' 2nd annual tea party at Everly's grandma's house.  Such a cute tradition.  The girls love it.

Working for Uncle Ryan

Wyatt was sooo excited when Ryan asked him if he'd like to work for him a bit this summer.  It might be a little more challenging than we originally thought to coordinate schedules but he went over twice this week and was able to do some mowing and washed some of Ryan's machinery.

Uncle Robert and Auntie Manda's Puppies

The little girls and I had dinner at Robert and Amanda's house with Brian and Sarah while Brandon and the oldest 3 went to baseball games.  The highlight was a tie between the delicious food and seeing all the baby animals.  The puppies are especially adorable!!!

Bo and Vine

It was a treat to go to the friends and family event for Brian and Amy's new Bo and Vine restaurant.  The new location had a great long table perfect for all the kiddos and as always the food was AMAZING!!!

Baseball

It was a windy one at Eagle Field tonight.

Home Depot Run

Helping Daddy out wherever we can.  It's so great having big kids!!!!

8th Grade Graduation Party

Lola, Sadie, Wesley, Carter, and Spencer

June 15, 2024
This week included Father's Day, baby goats, basketball camp for Hazel, 3 volleyball open gyms for Sadie, 4 baseball games, and an assortment of other activities.

Princess had 4 kids

Cooper's team had a game in Newport this week and my friend Anna offered to take Sadie and Cooper down early to enjoy a little time on the beach before the game.

Welsey and Said are good "friends" and admit that they like one another which gives their siblings and fathers permission to mercilessly tease them.  They handle it pretty well.

Wesley and Sadie forever courtesy of a siblings. :)

Helping Uncle Ryan find the broken pipe in his field.

Yes they're waist deep in mud, yes Carter is barefoot with mud from head to toe, yes they are having a blast playing in the mud, and no they have not found the break yet.

Brandon has a majority of the tile backer laid.

Wyatt learned to drive silage truck.  How is he old enough to do that?!?!?!

This weekend began with the W.P.I company picnic and also included V.B.S., 4 more baseball games, and Ellie Jo's birthday party.

The kids always enjoy this event and man it wears them out.

This year Sadie didn't attend the picnic with us which was sad but she had a great time out with her friend Wesley and his family.  Wesley has a condition called aplastic anemia which requires him to have a bone marrow transplant which will be happening in just a few weeks.  This was their last outing before his he begins his time at Doernbecher where he will receive a week worth of intense chemo and radiation followed by a bone marrow transplant.  We're probably a little biased by our daughter's head over heels adoration of Wes, but we've been so impressed with this kiddos optimism and peace as he moves steadily towards an unimaginable at 14 or anytime in your life journey.  These 2 will never be the same and we're thankful because we believe they are friends during this specific season for a unique and God ordained purpose.

Esther 4:14b Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.
This was obviously written to Queen Esther but we are all here for an appointed time and in the places we are for an appointed purpose.  Wesley's mom Anna and I have reflected numerous times on God's timing in all of this.  His timing in giving Wes a friend he could talk to a little more deeply than some of his guy friends and in introducing us to one another.  Our kids are encouraging each other but also we have gained a sweet and unique friendship in each other.

What's a family outing without a little brother?
We also adore Wes' little brother Easton.  He plays on Cooper's baseball team and I find him to be just hilarious.

Thursday Wes played in his last baseball game for the 2024 season and the team said goodbye, for a time, to our first baseman and what I've heard a few boys call the heart of our team.  We ate pizza, the younger boys ran around stealing hats, and we prayed over Wes and his family as they move forward to what Coach J.B. called the most epic adventure of their lives.  One which we pray draws them even closer to Christ and builds Godly character, which is after all what we're after.

It was a hard goodbye.  We stayed until the sun was down and everyone had left.  I think they'd been dreading this moment more than anything up until this point...  Now we begin the journey forward, counting down the days until treatment, and then Wes return home, and eventually his return to school sometime next year.   And as we count down to "normal life" returning we will look for opportunities to encourage this family and be present in their lives, and we will faithfully pray for God to work in mighty ways protecting Wes' body from a myriad of side effects, healing his body, protecting and blessing his donor, strengthening his body, keeping him encouraged through this time of isolation, and bringing him back with a heart to share of your faithfulness to him.
