Week 3: Retaining Wall, Yard Clean-Up, and Prep Work
SATURDAY
It was a busy weekend again. We started the morning cutting up the trees and piling them out of the way until we have a chance to split them.
Then Brandon and the 3 Bigs headed over to the baseball field to help get the field ready for practice this week while I took the youngest 4 over to the dairy for a bit.
After lunch we started moving block for the retaining wall. Those blocks are heavy. Brandon gets the credit for most of it but Sadie, Wyatt, and I moved quite a few blocks as well.
3 pallets down, 5 to go, and then we will be half way. UGH!!!
SUNDAY
Sunday afternoon we finished up what we needed to on the retaining wall. We needed to get it 4 blocks high all the way across so that Jordan can come back this week to backfill.
TUESDAY
On Tuesday Jordan came to backfill the retaining wall and work on the driveway a bit. Our plan is to eventually push back our fence line so we want to be able to dig down and level the area between the new retaining wall and fence. This is why we started the blocks lower than ground level. Feels like all our hard work just got buried but hopefully it'll pay off down the road.
Why do kids love dirt so much???
Silly Maddie
I spent some time this week getting our pallet wall in the mudroom torn apart so that hopefully we can reuse a lot of it when we're ready to start putting things back together.
The kids are pretty excited about getting started which means lots of energy they don't know what to do with so we put Wyatt to work pulling off trim Friday afternoon.
Spring Break starts tomorrow as does the demo of the mudroom, laundry, downstairs bath and closet, porch, and possibly siding.
