Week 2: Garage Demo and Beginning of Excavation
We got a lot done this week. On Friday we had a dumpster delivered and the kids and I started loading it with all the junk that was piled in the middle of the garage.
Why are we so stinkin' sentimental. We bought this for our first apartment and its filthy and needs to go because it's been in the garage for years but it's still hard for me to get rid of stuff. So... we take a picture so it can live on. :)
SATURDAY
Saturday we filled the remainder of the dumpster with drywall and insulation. YUCK!!!
The kids were sooo excited that we were able to back the car most of the way into the garage and on Sunday they didn't have to load in rain. It's the little things!!!
MONDAY
Monday Jordan from Spearhead construction showed up in the pouring rain to begin knocking over trees where our new driveway is going to be. Over the course of the day he took down a total of 6 trees.
Pushing over the maple tree.
That's going to be a huge burn pile
And a lot of firewood
TUESDAY
Tuesday was another busy day. Weather was a lot better which was nice. Today all but 1 of the tree stumps were removed, we got a load of gravel, half of the blocks for our retaining wall were delivered, and the excavation for the retaining wall began.
GRAVEL
BLOCK
STUMPS
RETAINING WALL
Looks like we've got our work cut out for us this weekend.
Nothing makes Daddy happy like firewood. :)
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday the last stump was ground and Jordan began laying block for the retaining wall.
The goats are loving the burn pile and eating all the bark from the tree limbs.
The girls are loving the sunshine.
