This guy turned 12!!! One more year before he joins his sister as a teenager. Wyatt loves friends and sports and school and family. School isn't always easy for him but he's adjusted so well to the new expectations that have been placed on him as a 6th grader. He never seems to shy away from a challenge which we admire and he continues to have this very genuine kindness about him that we just love! In fact, his teacher earlier this year sent us this email:
Hey,
I just wanted to send you guys a quick email about this morning. On Thursday mornings we go around the room and share "bucket fillers" which are how people have encouraged you or done something that made your day. This morning a student was tearfully talking about how most of the boys on the basketball court yell at him and he mentioned that Wyatt was one of the only ones who made him feel like he was wanted out there. He said that Wyatt always encourages him and makes him feel valued. It was hard not to get a little teary as I was listening to this. I am so thankful that Wyatt cares more about building others up than worrying about fitting in with what others are doing/saying. It was very impactful and will lead to great conversations with the other boys.
Wyatt is often complimented on his ability to include others and encourage everyone. Thank you for raising a boy that clearly sees the value of others so well.
Now he'll drive you crazy on more than one occasion telling you stories that he DOES NOT have all the details for or trying to convincing you of something he DOES NOT understand or stubbornly arguing with with his 7 year old sister about COMPLETE NONSENSE, but we couldn't be more proud of who he is. He is truly one of a kind. He has the absolute BIGGEST heart and we hope that he never stops passionately caring for others, or telling us all the details of his day, or finding us to give us a good night hug, EVER!!!!
Wyatt borrowed a bat last year but we figured it was time he start breaking in his own.
Put it to work the very next day at batting practice.
He chose Buffalo Wild Wings for his birthday lunch.
And Italian Sodas for his birthday treat.
PARTY TIME!!!
