Every summer when I ask the kids what they want to do the answer is SWIM!!! Grammy bought a pool a few years ago and some years it's worked out better than others but last year we never really got it going as the pump didn't work and the cover was shot, not to mention the yard being overgrown. Anyway, so this summer Brandon offered to help us get it all up and running. I knew with the twins being in their terrible 2's vacations were still off the table for us so it felt like this could be our fun thing for the summer.
So, we took a weekend in May and went over and emptied all the gross water out of the pool and cleaned it while Brandon rototilled the yard, hauled gravel for around the pool, and planted grass.

Day 1 the water was pretty cold but the kids still had a blast and Grammy even hauled warm water for the kiddie pools so that the little ones who couldn't hang in the big pool could still enjoy the water.
This is how the kids chose to warm themselves :)

We had quite a heat wave hit us the week our friends the Wallace's were in town. Luckily the worst of it was after they left at which point we moved over to the dairy for a few days to enjoy their A.C. but it was warm even while they were here so we spent a couple of afternoon playing in the pool with them.
Dad's really make everything more fun!
We were doing so well keeping the pool up this year and using it a ton and then on evening in July Mom came home and discovered that the water was really low. So we watched it for a couple of days and decided based on how quickly the water level was going down that it must have a leak. So we emptied the pool for a second time. Thankfully this time it was a much easier job as the water was clean and as a result we were able to use a pump that Uncle Ryan has. We found the leak, patched it, refilled it, and the water seems to be holding so hopefully it will warm up enough to get in some more swim days before the end of the summer.
Well we did enjoy a few more days of swimming, although not quite like at the beginning of the summer, and hopefully if we get everything sealed up nicely we'll be able to be right back at it as soon as the weather warms up next summer.
