Summer Beach Trips

We braved a couple of trips to the beach this summer.  Our first trip was on July 6th.  Brandon had the week off to roof the house but we decided to take Tuesday to go to the beach with the kids.  I had originally planned to leave the twins with Grammy but Brandon said he was up for braving it with those 2 yahoos so off we went.

I'm a big time planner so I thought through as many details ahead of time as I could such as borrowing a wagon from Katie to haul all of our stuff and a tent from Amy incase the babies decided they didn't like the sand.  I also bought treats for the ride home, packed lots of snacks for the twins, bought new sand toys, and moved car seats around to ensure that a particularly spicy child in our house wasn't going to be anywhere near a twin.

AND.... to our great surprise it actually went pretty well.  Nobody fought to much in the car which is a feat in and of itself when you consider there are 9 of us crammed together for an hour and a half and the big 5 had a blast in the sand and water even though it was crazy windy.  The twins were less impressed but they still did okay.  Aubrey was happy to hang out in the tent and color and occasionally sit on the edge and throw some sand and Maddie was super clingy but happy if she was sitting on my lap in the tent so... not to bad for a first trip.  Plus most of them feel asleep on the ride home.  Yay!!  All except the nut who entertained us in the front seat with her gummy shark and swedish fish shenanigans.

You get a grocery size McDonalds bag when you order happy meals for our family. :)

Aww Miss Maddie

At the very end Aubrey ventured out just a little bit.

And about 5 minutes into the drive home they were out which was awesome!  Often these two fight sleeping in the car.

We turned around and went back 3 days later for round 2 on Daddy's week off.

Our plan is to head back one more time before the kids go back to school but we'll see what happens.  This summer is flying by.
