Summer Projects 2021

We had some big projects to tackle this summer and by "we" I mostly mean Brandon.  Our roof has been on our list for at least a couple of years and after getting some quotes Brandon decided he was going to tackle it himself.  So we printed out some calendars and planned out our summer and his time off and he went after it.  Demo started the weekend of June 11th which was initially suppose to be dry but kind of last minute showed chances for rain.  We decided to roll the dice as many times rain here in Oregon is just a drizzle.  Unfortunately it poured :( but we pumped out.  Brandon got the entire roof torn off in a long weekend and finished putting the paper down in the pouring rain and the kids and I loaded nearly all all the tear off on our own so that it was in the dumpster before it got soaking wet.

I was really proud of how hard the big 3 worked.  This dumpster was huge!!

It was a lot of hard work but as usual he got it done and I'm relieved not because I was worried about it getting done but because I'm glad to have him off the roof. :)

We also began work on our balcony.  We've gone back and forth on what to do but ended up deciding to replace it.  The view just seems to good to tear it off completely.  Anyway so this project involved replacing the french doors upstairs replacing the balcony and then replacing the siding on the front of the house.

We also went to work on the small rat colony that has moved in under the chicken coop.  Yuck!!!

Not gonna lie I was just waiting for one of those nasty little things to come running out at the kids.  Thankfully that didn't happen and now they know their messing with the wrong guys chickens.

Our final summer project was repainting and repairing our fence.  It was in pretty bad shape and as we start thinking about moving and hoping to have baby goats one more time it was definitely an item that needed some attention.
